In November 2024, two members of the PORTAL project traveled to Wageningen, Netherlands, to attend to the 5th ESP Europe conference along with colleagues from the social-ecological systems research team in Grenoble.


Titouan Dubo and Alberto González-García presented their research during the session titled "Linking Ecosystem Services and Nature-based Solutions for Transformative Change" which was hosted by Edna Cabecinha (UTAD, IUCN) and Emmanuelle Cohen-Shacham (IUCN). All speakers offered valuable insights into the effectiveness of Nature-based Solutions for addressing societal challenges and providing benefits for biodiversity in a wide range of social-ecological context. The discussion emphasized the critical need for integrated, robust criteria in the monitoring of Nature-based Solutions, such as the IUCN NbS Global Standard.
